As the seasons change, our bodies become more vulnerable to colds and flu. This is when the immune system needs extra support to function at its best. A strong immune system helps protect the body against infections, viruses, and seasonal illnesses. While proper nutrition, hydration, and exercise are essential, integrating Reiki energy healing into your daily routine can provide a powerful boost to your immunity.

Reiki is a holistic healing practice that balances the body's energy, reduces stress, and enhances the natural healing process. By directing healing energy to key immune-supporting organs, this simple Reiki practice can help fortify your body’s defenses and promote overall wellness.

Understanding the Immune System

The immune system is a sophisticated defense network that shields the body from harmful invaders. The following organs play a crucial role in immunity:

  • Thymus: Located behind the sternum, the thymus produces T-cells, which are essential for immune response. Though it is most active in childhood, stimulating this gland can help maintain its function in adulthood.

  • Bone Marrow: Found inside bones, bone marrow generates vital white blood cells, including B-cells and T-cells, which are key to fighting infections and diseases.

  • Lymphatic System: This network of lymph nodes and vessels filters toxins and circulates immune cells throughout the body, playing a key role in immune defense.

  • Spleen: The spleen filters blood, removes damaged red blood cells, and produces white blood cells that help fight infections.

  • Gut (Intestines & Microbiome): Around 70% of the immune system resides in the gut. Beneficial bacteria (microbiome) aid digestion and bolster immune function.

  • Skin & Mucosal Barriers: The skin is the first line of defense against infections. Mucous membranes in the respiratory and digestive tracts trap harmful bacteria and viruses.

  • Liver: This vital organ detoxifies harmful substances, filters blood, and produces essential immune proteins that help protect against infections.

Step-by-Step Reiki Practice for a Stronger Immune System

For the best results, perform this Reiki practice daily during flu season for 10–15 minutes. This will help strengthen your immune system and maintain balance.

Step 1: Set Your Healing Intention

Find a quiet, comfortable space. Sit or lie down with your spine straight. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and allow yourself to become still.

Activate the main Reiki symbol to establish a connection with the universal Reiki energy. Then, activate the descending and ascending channels (practitioners of Reiki will know how to do this). Slowly awaken each of your seven chakras in sequence: 1st (Root), 2nd (Sacral), 3rd (Solar Plexus), 4th (Heart), 5th (Throat), 6th (Third Eye), and 7th (Crown).

Connect with your True Self and allow your mind to settle into a neutral, receptive state. Set a clear intention:“I allow Reiki energy to flow through me, strengthening my immune system and restoring balance to my body.”

Step 2: Activate Reiki Energy

  • Awaken Your Energy Flow: Vigorously rub the centers of your palms together for a few seconds to generate warmth and activate the energy channels.

  • Connect with Universal Energy: Place your hands in Gassho (the gesture of bringing the hands together in a prayer-like position). Breathe deeply, feel the energy tingling in your palms, and call upon Reiki energy to flow through you.

  • Deepen Your Alignment: Strengthen your connection with all available energy sources to maximize healing energy. Hold your intention firmly—to fortify your immune system and restore balance within your body.

Step 3: Energize Your Immune Organs

  1. Thymus (Boosting Immune Response)

    • Place both hands on your upper chest, just above the sternum.

    • Take deep breaths and visualize golden or white light radiating into the thymus.

    • Stay here for 2–3 minutes, feeling warmth and vitality energizing your T-cells.

  2. Bone Marrow & Kidney Energy (Strengthening Blood Production)

    • Position your hands over your lower back, focusing on the kidney area.

    • Imagine warm, nourishing energy infusing your bones and strengthening your immune cell production.

    • Hold for 2–3 minutes.

  3. Lymph Nodes (Neck & Underarms—Detoxification & Immune Circulation)

    • Place both hands on your neck, allowing Reiki to clear blockages in your lymph nodes.

    • Move your hands under your arms to further stimulate lymphatic drainage and circulation.

    • Hold each position for 1–2 minutes, breathing deeply and visualizing toxins being flushed from your body.

  4. Energizing the Gut (Intestinal & Microbiome Health)

    • Move your hands to your lower abdomen, covering your digestive system.

    • Envision golden energy enveloping your gut, strengthening beneficial bacteria and ensuring balance.

    • Breathe deeply and hold for 2–3 minutes.

  5. Supporting the Spleen & Liver (Blood Purification & Detoxification)

    • Place your left hand over your left ribcage, covering the spleen.

    • Use your right hand to gently rest on the right side of your abdomen, just below your ribs, where the liver is located.

    • Envision a radiant golden light surrounding these organs, cleansing toxins, and revitalizing the blood.

    • Hold for 2–3 minutes.

Step 4: Closing the Session with Gratitude

  • Bring your hands together in Gassho, resting them at your heart.

  • Breathe deeply and allow yourself to feel the restored energy within.

  • Silently or aloud, affirm: “I am grateful for my body’s strength, balance, and its ability to heal itself.”

How Often Should You Practice?

  • During Flu Season: Perform this Reiki practice daily to maintain strong immunity.

  • When Feeling Unwell: Practice morning and evening to support your body’s healing process.

  • For General Well-being: To maintain immune resilience, perform the practice at least 3–4 times per week.

Embrace Reiki for Year-Round Immunity

By dedicating a few minutes each day to this powerful energy practice, you can support your body’s natural defense mechanisms and create an inner environment that resists seasonal illnesses. Reiki not only strengthens immunity but also promotes deep relaxation and emotional balance.

Commit to this practice and experience renewed vitality, resilience, and well-being as you move through the changing seasons with confidence and inner strength!
